I understand that access to this system is permitted only if it is pertinent to my work assignment at Lincoln Public Schools. I understand that personal information which may come to my knowledge while accessing this system will be kept confidential. I further agree to abide by all requirements set forth in The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99).
Additionally, in accordance with the Lincoln Public Schools' Board Policy 5340 (Policy):
(Policy) To carry out their responsibilities, school staff members have access to student
records for legitimate educational purposes. A "legitimate educational interest" is the
person's need to know in order to:
1) Perform an administrative task required in the school employee's position
description approved by the board,
2) Perform a supervisory or instructional task directly related to the student's
3) Perform a service or benefit for the student or the student's family such as health
care, psychological services, counseling, student job placement, or student

Employees who access education records that they do not have a legitimate educational interest in accessing,
or who allow others to have access to education records that they do not have a legitimate educational interest in accessing,
shall be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
School officials other than employees who engage in such conduct shall be subject to such consequences as are appropriate.
Students who engage in such conduct shall be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion.
